It is ridiculous that donors cannot make donation only gifts on these pages, first of all. To have to build a separate donation page is so cumbersome and confusing for donors and many, many donors do it. Also, the work around for continuing to use the event page forces the donor to get registered in the event module - something you do not want at all. The automatic interfacing with the event module is super problematic for us too because we always make tons of changes to the event module and also want to make sure attendees are actually coming. It should give you an option whether or not you want the purchaser registered and whether or not it has selected the correct record to link to the registration. The room for error in having to go in a fix this stuff is so huge and while i think RE thought this would be helpful, it really is NOT AT ALL in the real world of events. I think we should have the option to not have it automatically integrate into the event module at all. You can't just use the regular donation pages to avoid this either as it does not allow you to "buy" multiple tickets.
