Option to remove the 'optional' wording from membership and donation forms

On Membership Form, Joint Membership, the fields where the member is asked to add the name of the second member or registrant is pre-filled with 'optional'. This is not helpful as how can we process a joint membership when the name of the second member is not provided?! We have to then call the member to get this information and explain that its a default setting on our system which cannot be changed...

    Like the original post, if our donors do not add information to the form, we will need to contact them to get it. I am trying to substitute by using an attribute, but the labeling for attributes is very poor.
