I recently had an honor/memorial gift come into OLX where the donor wished for an acknowledgement to go to the person who they made the gift in honor of, but this creates a bit of a mess. OLX gives an error message if the acknowledgee is a relationship who is NOT added as a constituent and insists you add the acknowledgee to log their address. So- if the person being acknowledged is also the person the gift is in honor of , you have to create a duplicate constituent record and add that person as a relationship to themselves. This is unnecessary steps to take and then even more since after you process the gift you have to go back and delete the duplicate record.
Solution, courtesy of the Blackbaud rep whom I hopped on chat with (Sarah Brown), suggested a "self-acknowledge" button, that would allow you in this instance to tell the system that the acknowledge is in fact a constituent and is the same person the honor/memorial record belongs to.

We receive a large number of tribute gifts and this is a constant headache for me.!
Are you still working around this by adding a duplicate constituent record?
