This is absurd that this feature is still not available and is a huge miss on Blackbaud's part, specifically with how difficult it is to import data into RE. We should have the ability to customize email sign up forms to linked fields in our database, and ideally to linked attributes. If a third party system like importomatic can do this then i would think this is doable. Cannot believe this post was created in 2016 and almost a decade later there is no resolution.
This idea has been discussed for 4+ years, but is there any movement on adding this feature? Other than Firstname, Lastname, and Email, additional fields should not be required, but still available for entry. The legitimate comments here are instructive for how adding fields to the signup form can be utilized. 1) More data fields are captured; more content is added when processing new signups. 2) Allows new subscribers to indicate preferences for types of emails desired. This is Basic 101 for segmenting audiences and targeting communication they want and limits them from getting the info they don't really want. 3) If address fields could be added, then the new subscriber who fills these fields out could be added to a snail mail list, too. I'm just surprised how limiting Online Express is after years of development. Many features that are basic to other email marketing companies are completely missing or woefully inadequate in OLX.
It looks very nice and informative. Thank you so much!
Hi Ken Cantu. I can see that this feature was under discussion by your team back in 2018. Is there any progress you can share with us? Can we expect to see this feature added soon or should we consider alternative options for collecting additional user sign up information?
We've just started using this form and find it really limiting. Specifically, it would be so helpful if we could simply add a 'title' box to the form. We don't have first names for all of our constituents to we address people as "Dear <Title> <Surname>" - if the title is left blank (because the form doesn't capture it) then the salutation leaves the title blank, addressing those people as "Dear <Surname>". To avoid this, we're having to manually add titles to every new sign up, which makes the form far less efficient. This method is also open to error where constituents have unisex names.
Has anyone found a solution to this? Has there been any movement on this?
We just went to make the move from Constant Contact to Online Express and discovered that we can't add our own fields, so now we're exploring a survey monkey like thing or form on our website instead...double work for my employee. :( The fields we would like to add are street address, city, state, zip. This would allow us to link email signups to people already in our database. First name and last name alone aren't enough for us to feel confident about adding an email to an existing record. A nice to have, but not necessary, would be attributes. We're a Humane Society, so we use thinks like "cat enthusiast", "dog enthusiast" etc. to segment our appeals. If we could get that at the time of survey, that would be amazing! Thanks for considering!
We would like users to be able to sign up for different lists or program updates so that we can target communications. We also need address information and that's a big reason we don't use the sign up forms.
It would be good to allow a field to custom map to specific attributes. Being a bilingual organization we need to record their language preference as a specific attribute.
Or give us the option to create more than one sign up form.
Hi all, thanks for the feedback! This will help me have discussions over the next two weeks about this feature and it's priority.
Hi Ken,
Thanks for asking. It's goof to hear this might be on the agenda.
I guess the main things would be being able to add their address and a phone number. And then also if we could add attributes then that would allow for some of the other customisations others are requesting - even if they have to do an export/import or a group change to get there.
I guess it wouldn't need to be that different from the kind of things that happens through the event sign-up and donation forms in OLX already.
Matt
We really need the ability to have users sign up for different lists or program updates. It would give us a way to send more targeted communications. In addition, I would love to be able to ask people for how often they would want a newsletter or update (i.e. monthly, quarterly, etc). This would give donors and others a way to only get the types of information that they are interested in and will hopefully help with our open rates.
Our organization doesn't use the email functionality because there are so many missing pieces. For one thing, you do not have access to all the merge fields in RE. Secondly, there are no preference options (i.e. you can't really build a form). It's pretty much a name and email kind of thing. I understand that OLX is not Net Community, but I think being able to allow constituents select what they want to hear about from us is crucially to our marketing.
Hi all, I'm gathering use cases around next gen forms in web view. I'd be interested in knowing your priorities of which specific additional sign up fields you'd want to see first.
Also, there are usually multiple versions of ideas, we definitely look at them all and combine like ones as we assess level of impact.
Thanks!
Ken
There seems to be more than 1 topic for this same request:
Perhaps if the topics/votes were combined, it might send a stronger message to Blackbaud about this feature request.
with several programs this is really needed
It would be helpful to be able to add new fields into a form which will help to identify new and existing members, such as the Member ID #.
It's impossible to segment and target users if there's no way to customise the form. Partciularly if the sign up form doesn't even let users choose which lists they'd like to sign up to.
